Sundance 2014

Busy week. Sundance 2014 has started and between volunteering and trying to catch films, I’ve had little time to reflect. But, I am really happy to stay busy. A few early attempts at watching films in Park City taught me that you have to go WAY early to have a chance at getting into anything. Thus, we didn’t watch our first film till Saturday but it was a good one. Then, I basically worked Saturday night till Sunday night with a few hours of sleep in between. The bright side is that we got to see a few movies while volunteering (by “we” I mean Dave, Ash, Azzy, and I). The downside is I am exhausted. But a review of films I’ve seen so far: E-Team: Great! This was about the emergency response team that goes all over the world and documents atrocities against humanity. I’ve always wanted to do something human rights related (hence my interest in global health) but this really shed light on the dangers and the emotional toll of doing something so frontline. First work week since the holidays has passed and it went better then I thought. I’ve managed to be fairly productive and my weeknights were booked with dinners, volunteering, and book club. I didn’t actually make it to book club because I had a lot of work last Wednesday but such is life. Of note is that I saw American Hustle last week. It was really good! Then on Saturday, I had to teach since the new semester just started. Because I was teaching, Dave went to Sundance volunteer training without me but we met up with some friends for lunch and then picked up our volunteer gear. This year’s color is bright/baby blue. It like it but I have to say that it doesn’t look so hot on guys. All well ;) Yesterday, Dave and I took Felicia to Hollywood connections which is a weird conglomeration of all things fun. They had

The holidays have officially come to an end and for the first time ever, I am feeling pretty sad about it. I blame it on having had too much fun. This past week has been a good transition into the New Year. I had to work every day of the week except Wednesday so it was a good way to start myself back into the 5 day schedule. But what was better were the friends/family I got to see Wednesday and throughout the week. On Monday night, Dave and I went out with his family to a fancy sushi place. Dave’s youngest brother just got engaged so it was a pseudo-engagement party with his and his fiance’s families. I got some yummy food and had a great time. On Tuesday, Dave and I did our own thing. With the festivities, we haven’t had much time to ourselves so we went out to dinner (at red iguana….yum) and walked around Temple Square to see the lights. The Temple Square lights are something I remember from childhood with my family so it was really nice to share it with Dave. We ended
