Car Train Book Hike

I forgot in my last post to mention that I was hit by a car. I was trying to turn right and the lanes were merging. The car in front of me stopped so I stopped but the car behind me rear ended me. To make things worse, the girl backed up and rear-ended me again. I haven’t have been hit in a long time so it really shook me up. I get tense everytime I am stopping for fear that the car behind will hit me. All this has led to a few things: a) a bunch of headache trying to get the damages estimated and eventually fixed b) a sense of gratefulness for it being a mild accident and c) a desire to take public transportation more. As luck will have it, there is a direct trax line 3min from Dave’s house up to the university. I tried it for the first time last week but went to the station 20min away, got on the wrong line, and had to make Dave help me figure out what to do. It was a disaster. Since then though, I think I’ve rectified my mistakes and figured out how to get to work on time. It

Rebuttal

Hello. I am going to be a bit behind on blogging because I just got really busy with MY PAPER  REBUTTAL ! YAY! I am super excited because it is my first paper and it has the chance of getting into a good journal. On the flip side, there are a lot of experiments I have to finish in the next two-month, a paper to re-write, and a rebuttal to write. I feel bless to have this opportunity and blessed to be surrounded by people who can help. The surprise however is that my paper was only reviewed for 2 weeks before it came back. This is a really fast turn-around time. Which means that I didn’t expect it so I had planned a TDS today (a presentation for my boss) and a Zion trip next weekend. All well. While I was waiting for my paper, I started planning my next trip in mid-May. I am going to Peru for 10 days with Ash who just matched into ophthalmology residency at the U. This will be her last big trip before starting residency so she will be going longer then me but we w

Science Fair, Book Club, and Current Obsession

So I realized I kindof missed a week but Sundance ended and I got sick with a gastroenterovirus. It was gross. Enough said. Yesterday I judged the science fair at my old elementary school. First of all, it was weird being back there because everything looked so small and it made me feel like a giant. Second, the projects some of the kids did were amazing. Yes there was the usually egg drop and melting ice cream experiments but there were a few that really impressed me. On girl tested the hearing ability between humans and dogs. Another little boy looked at transpiration in leaves (I didn’t know that word till high school). He blocked moisture by coating different parts of leaves with lip blam then measured water absorption! The best project I saw was by a little boy who analyzed AC vs DC power source using long-exposure photography. I’m telling you that some of these kids are geniuses! In other news, I just finishing reading Daughters of Mars for this month’s book club.
